Ground Rules for Effective Conversations
Tammy Services Corporation Ground Rules will set expectations and provide guidance on how participants are to conduct themselves and act on an individual level or as part of the team.
#1: Respect!
Listen to other’s points of view and accept that each individual expresses their attributes in different ways.
#2: Understand!
Keep the context of the original topic in mind while also embracing the dynamic process of tangential discussions.
#3: Focus!
Tackle the issue and not the person. Value learning over defending challenging points of views.
#4: Engage!
Explain the reasons that led you to your conclusions and be open to having your reasonings challenged.
#5: Discuss!
Bring issues up when necessary and make “undiscussable” ideas discussable.
